Biography

Sughra Baghirzada was born on February 10, 1947, in Baku. She has been passionate about art since childhood. Her first major success came in 1959 when she performed the song “Jujalarim” (My Chickens) at the Azerbaijani Culture Festival in Moscow, held on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. It was Sughra Baghirzada’s rendition—accompanied by the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Niyazi—that earned the song a place in The Best Children’s Voices of the World collection.
